Course Description

This is an introductory course in spoken and written Korean, designed for students with no previous knowledge of the Korean language. Learn Korean alphabet (Hanguel) and develop basic communication skills through grammatical explanations, dialogues and vocabulary building exercises. 

By the end of this course, successful students will be able to:

  • Exchange greetings and farewells
  • Introduce yourself and others
  • Discuss likes and dislikes
  • Count from 1 to 20
  • Talk about your family  
  • Describe location of objects and places
  • Have a better understanding of the Korean culture

Course Details

The course begins with learning the Korean alphabet (Hangeul) and goes on to develop basic communication skills through various units such as Greetings, Food, Shopping, Directions, and Family. The course focuses on helping students attain proficiency in all four language skill areas: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Attention is given to grammatical explanations and vocabulary building exercises. You will also be introduced to the basics of Korean culture.
