University of Calgary Continuing Education is constantly reviewing and refreshing curriculum in recognition of the evolving demands of today's markets.

We have recognized that the three Community Economic Development courses that are part of the Community Economic Development program are better aligned with Economic Developers Alberta (EDA). It has been decided that these courses will be transferred to the EDA effective immediately. They are part of EDA's Community Economic Development Training Program (CEDTP) and will be available on a new platform. Visit www.edaalberta for details.

These are the impacted courses...

In these circumstances, we make every effort to provide our students with an opportunity to complete their current program or provide a smooth transfer into a new program.

What is the impact on my current program?

University of Calgary Continuing Education will stop running the three Community Economic Development courses effective Fall 2024. These courses will still be available for registration through Economic Developers Alberta (EDA).

What are my options for program completion?

Students who have been admitted towards the Community Economic Development program have until August 31, 2024 to complete the remaining requirements in their program through University of Calgary Continuing Education. You will be awarded the digital badge micro-credential upon your program completion. Please note that Continuing Education has limited course sections available so please be sure to register soon if you wish to complete the program with us.

Alternatively, you can transfer to the Community Economic Development Training Program (CEDTP) program offered by Economic Developers Alberta. If you would like to discuss this option, please contact EDA at admin@edaalberta.ca or call 1-866-671-8182.

As of September 1, 2024, all students will be able to complete their program directly with EDA and program completion will be recognized by them.
